How Solar Works

While the sun is out, solar panels absorb its rays and convert them into usable direct current (DC) electricity. The solar converter converts this DC power into AC (alternating current) electricity that may be used inside your home. Appliances in your home, such the fridge, dishwasher, and pool pumps, can run on this power rather than the electricity from the grid.

When solar cells are exposed to light, even through clouds, the electrons are displaced, making room for another electron to fall inside and unite with the first; this process generates energy. It doesn't matter if the sky is cloudy or not; this procedure still goes on. Transmission of electrons happens to be referred to as electricity. The Photovoltaic Effect is the name given to this phenomena. PV is an abbreviation for "photovoltaic," which means ".

The power from the solar panels is converted from direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC) at 240 volts by the inverter. This power may be used immediately, exported to the utility grid, or stored in a battery bank.

An installer will position solar panels such that their glass faces are at a ninety-degree angle to the sun for the majority of the day.
